Dawkins’s Biomorphs

A visual demonstration of evolution through mutation and selection

How to use the simulator
  • Inspired by: Richard Dawkins’s book The Blind Watchmaker
  • Biomorph genes: branching, depth, angles, length, colour and symmetry
  • Mutations: random changes to genes, with the selected probability for each trait
  • Selection: choose the biomorph you like best as the parent
  • Evolution: a new generation is created from the selected parent
  • History: the display is limited to 15 generations

Choose a variant to become the parent of the next generation. If none appeals to you, generate other variants from the same parent.

Generation 0 · choose the next parent
